چکیده

Objective: To compare the efficacy of supraclavicular brachial plexus block with patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) for post-operative pain management in forearm surgery.
 Study Design: Comparative Cross-Sectional Study.
Place and Duration Study: Department Anesthesia, Combined Military Hospital, Kharian Pakistan, from Sep 2018 to Nov 2019.
Methodology: Eighty-two adult patients, ASA Class I II, were enrolled randomly divided into two equal groups using computer-generated random numbers. General anaesthesia was administered both groups. Additionally, Group-A (n=41) received while Group-B patients-controlled analgesia. Post-operative assessed a 10 cm visual analogue scale (VAS). The scores noted after complete recovery general at 5 minutes, 6, 12 24 hours.
Results: score found be significantly lower (supraclavicular block) as compared (patients-controlled analgesia) hours (p<0.05) non-significant difference minutes (p >0.05).
Conclusion: Significantly, better control patients’- controlled management.

USING PHYSICAL EXAMINATION IN SUPRACLAVICULAR BRACHIAL PLEXUS BLOCK WITH MODIFIED PARASCALENE APPROACH

Background: Because nerve stimulators are not always available for brachial plexus block, fmding the right injection spot for nerve blocks is important. In this study we used physical examination to determine the appropriate spot for injection. Methods: All patients who were candidates for upper extremity surgery and were either in class ASA I or ASA II, were selected. Paresthesia was elici...
